This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.
This image shows a man wearing glasses, eye protection and a black DePuy uniform working in a room viewed through a window from another. The picture does not focus on the man and instead captures a wider scope of the room, with many different machines that all seem to blend together. There is a sign reading '5's' on the far left, but the rest of the accompanying text is difficult to read.
