This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image shows a man wearing glasses, ear protection and a black DePuy uniform using a machine. A label on the side of the unit calls it a Wet Blast Processing Unit and mandates that ear protection must be worn. The man has his hands through two holes (presumably, the other is obscured by his person) while watching the inside through a window. A button protrudes obviously toward the bottom of the machine, perhaps serving as a stop/start. There is another man wearing the DePuy uniform and glasses, either caught passing through or supervising the other man.
