This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image shows a man wearing ear protection and a black DePuy uniform using a machine. It captures the view of the back of his head, showing the slots where he places his arms and the window he looks through. A label in the top left part of the unit says 'AD' and a label just to the left of the man reads 'Have you SWITCHED OFF Think! SAVE MONEY AND ENERGY CLIMATE CARE'. From similar pictures, the machine he is using is called the Wet Blast Processing Unit.
