This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image shows a worker wearing a DePuy uniform and an ID badge while holding a small pile or dust or powder in their hands. It is unclear whether it is a material used in a process or the waste material produced by a process, though if it is the latter the object in the bottom right corner of the frame might have been responsible.
