This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image shows a man wearing a DePuy uniform and a pair of goggles for eye protection. He is sat down working with a pair of objects with his hands, though the camera perspective being right in front of him can make it difficult to notice. There is a shiner and larger (or perhaps just reflective) piece and a thinner, duller piece. Perhaps he is measuring one piece with the other?
