This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image shows a man wearing goggles and a Depuy uniform. The camera looks down from his shoulder at his hands as they hold a component each. One of them is shiner and more reflective while the other is thinner and duller, with a curve on one edge and tapering to a point on the other. 6 other components similar to the one he is holding in his hands rest on the table beside him.
