This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image shows a man wearing glasses, ear defenders and the DePuy uniform as he looks directly at the camera. He is holding a small object in one of his hands, its shape reminiscent of a razor, to the camera to show it off. The focus of the shot is on the man but you can see the machine next to him that he was presumably working at, as well as other machines in the background of the room he is in.
