This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.
This image shows a man wearing glasses, ear defenders and a DePuy uniform adjusting a machine of some kind in an office area. A small pointed tool with a handle lies unused just next to him. A computer monitor can be seen turned on but it is obscured by the mans body. Several pieces of paper are stuck on the windows of the room. One of them reads 'Important - Please do not remove any CMM results from this room if they are not yours. Thank you.' but the other two are illegible.
