This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.
This image depicts a man wearing the DePuy uniform, glasses, a watch and ear defenders, though they aren't in front of his ears. A vice can be seen poking up from the bottom of the frame with some kind of object held in place between the teeth. I'm not sure if this is connected to the machine on the right of the frame or is separate. A stack of drawers is in the background with a box on top. Most of its labels are illegible but the top one seems to say 'tools'.
