This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man wearing glasses, an employee ID card and the DePuy uniform sitting down while using a grinding/sanding machine. He is wearing protective gloves while he uses the machine to whittle down a component. Multiple other components can be seen on the table next to him, though I'm not sure whether they are finished or yet to be worked on. A bucket full of water-like liquid can also be seen on the table next to him. A label toward the base of the machine reads 'LEV test point'.
