This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man sitting at a machine while wearing glasses, the DePuy uniform, gloves and an ID card. I presume he is also wearing ear plugs, since the similar machines around him seem to mandate ear protection. He is looking back at the camera, possibly caught mid-conversation with Beesley, though the wheel of the machine is still spinning. Two other similar machines can be seen to the left of him and a table can be seen adjacent to the man with more components and a bucket.
