This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man wearing the DePuy uniform, glasses and an ID card. He is reaching for a small component on the table next to him as he sits at a grinding/sanding wheel. There are at least 7 components all resting on a plastic wallet. The wallet has documents inside and is labelled the 2nd November 2011. The metal piece covering the top of the spinning wheel has two notices stuck to it. The first is a notice mandating eye protection while the second advocates for saving energy ('Have you switched off. Think. Save money and energy. Climate care')
