This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image depicts two men working on machines, both of them are wearing glasses and the DePuy uniform, while the man far in the distance is using ear defenders. One man sits close to the camera while using a grinding/sanding wheel to work on a component, while the other is far away and using a Powerfin Bull machine to grind away at another material. They both have moveable tables to hold items they need while they work. Rows of unused machines (mostly Powerfin Bulls) can also be seen.
