This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image depicts a worker using a machine while wearing the DePuy uniform, an apron, a pair of glasses and a pair of ear defenders. The point of view is from behind the machine they are using, so it difficult to know exactly what they are working on. A poster on the wall behind the machines and in the top right corner of the frame is titled '[Safety?] at work - Do you know all you need to know?'
