This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.
This image depicts two men wearing ear defenders, glasses and DePuy uniforms working at opposite desks, their work illuminated by magnifying lamps. Their specific work is difficult to ascertain from a distance and due to the machine unit in front of them. There is a computer monitored labelled 'BC7 Controller' with a corresponding keyboard and a Borries engraver used to mark components and objects.
