This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man working at a desk while wearing the DePuy uniform, glasses and ear defenders. He holds one object in one hand while using a tool of some kind, his work illuminated by a magnifying lamp. The man occupies the background, making his specific work difficult to identify. The foreground is occupied by a messy collection of objects, such as a jumper, a pair of gloves and two container boxes.
