This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image depicts a man wearing glasses, gloves and the DePuy uniform as he works at his desk/a work surface. The desk is covered over by a transparent plastic frame on all sides except the side the man is working from, which is open. He has his hands inside the open side as he works. The plastic material and a document stuck to the side of the box make it difficult to see what he is doing, but one can see a couple of objects inside the box. The camera captures the man from a side view.
