Bowland Street Reform Synagogue
Mr Ellinger blowing the Shofar at the Bowland Street Reform Synagogue in the Manningham area of Bradford. Consecrated by European textile merchants in 1881. A Shofar is made from a rams horn and is blown during the New Year service of the Jewish faith, when the Rabbi summons a member of the congregation forward to blow the horn, symbolising the awakening of the congregation for the new year ahead.
