This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.
This image shows two men who have been caught mid conversation. They are both wearing eye protection and DePuy uniforms. Both of them are also pointing at a piece of paper on a work desk. Two curved dome component pieces can be seen, one off to the side and one between the left mans finger and thumb. A tool rack stands above the sheet the two men are discussing. Labels for 'verniers', 'groove dia verniers', 'hole depth verniers', 'plug gauges', 'gauge widths', 'screw grooves' and a wrench of some kind.
