This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.
This image depicts a holding a piece of clothing that she has either taken off of or is about to place on to a clothing rack. The rack itself has another item of clothing on it and suspends from the ceiling. A boiler, seemingly full wash basket and a washing machine can be seen in the background. A door to another room is open behind the woman, leading to a kitchen area with a set of drawers. It is unknown why this is placed with the other DePuy pictures. Perhaps it is a home of someone working there?
