This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.
This image depicts a wide view of a room. A row of machines line the back wall while another group of machines run parallel to them. Two men can be seen working. One of them is in the bottom right corner and the other can be seen in the distance toward the left of the frame. Both of them are wearing glasses and the DePuy uniform. Some of the machines close to the right side of the frames have ear and eye protection warnings stuck to their frames.
