This is a photographic negative produced by photographer Ian Beesley. This was part of a project called 'Thackray Remembered' (Thackray 2011) which was commissioned by the Thackray Medical Museum to document the closure of a Thackray factory which manufactured hip and knee replacements. It was taken over by the American company DePuy who moved production to China.

This image shows a working wearing ear defenders (though they are not currently over his ears) and the DePuy uniform. He is depicted from behind as he works at a computer monitor, though the monitor itself is mostly obscured. A small folder or box can be seen on the table beside him and 4 pieces of paper are stuck to the windows of the wall in front of him. Though the left most one is legible in other pictures (H.2025.11.46.23 - warning not to take CMM results out of the room if they aren't yours) it is not here and neither are the other three.
