Sikh temples are easily identified by the tall flagpole that marks each site. This is crowned by the Khunda, the symbol of Sikhism, which is taken down and washed with yoghurt as a mark of respect at significant festivals. This picture was taken during celebrations marking Guru Gobind Singh's birthday at the Ramgarhia Sikh Temple in Birmingham. Featured on Page 54 of the book Asians in Britain.
