Description
Workers in the staff canteen at Bradford Bus and Rail Interchange Station. All these men had worked on the buses for over twenty years. The vast majority of the first wave of Asian immigrants to Bradford found work in the textile industry, however alternative and often better paid employment opportunities soon presented themselves. Beyond the textile industry, Bradford's public transport system was one of the first concerns to employ a large number of people of Asian origin.
