This is a black and white glossy photographic print of a miner above ground at Hay Royds Colliery. He is wearing his miners headlamp, carrying a small back and is covered in dirt. There is a pile of rubble and a winding gear in the background of the image. This print was taken by photographer Ian Beesley and is featured in two of his books - 'Life: A Retrospective' on p140 and 'The Drift' on p104. It is labelled as 'John Taylor, Faceworker, Hay Royds Colliery, 2010'.
